The Concept of Boxercise

Boxercise began in the UK in 1992 based upon training principlesthat have existed for over two hundred years. The Boxercise coursehas developed age old training principles and adapted them toform a safe, effective and fun form of exercise suitable for allages and levels of ability.

Boxercise is one of the most effective forms of cross-trainingavailable today. It combines use of both aerobic and anaerobicenergy systems with the systematic recruitment of both fast andslow twitch muscle fibres in a manner that not only ensures adiverse workout but also enhances sports specific senses includinghand-eye co-ordination, balance and timing. Boxercise classesare always fun, energetic and addictive.

The Boxercise Instructor Training Course

Who may attend?

The emphasis of the course is always safety. The aim is notto turn our instructors into competition standard boxers but ensurethat they leave the course able to competently coach the basicsof Boxercise to a novice allowing them to work out safely whilsthaving fun.

All who attend have an existing nationally recognised qualificationin fitness. This enables our Course Instructors to focus uponteaching the new skills of Boxercise without distraction.

Course Duration

The Boxercise course runs over a one day period (usually ona Saturday) and lasts eight hours.

Course Content

The main aspects of the course include:

Footwork: basic stance, movement and balance

Punching: punching technique including coaching points/techniqueand safety

Padwork: the focal point of the course. Coaching toa novice the basic punching techniques using focus pads to elevateheart rate, enhance hand-eye co- ordination and above all - havefun!

Equipment: All equipment that may be used in a classis explained in detail with questions from the candidates.

Assessment: Each person is individually assessed ontheir ability to coach the basics of Boxercise to a novice emphasisingsafety and communication.

The Boxercise Qualification

All who successfully complete the Boxercise course join theInternational Register of Boxercise Instructors. As proofof registration each instructor receives a certificate and anID card which contains their individual registration number whichacts as an easy form of verification by a prospective employer.Confirmation of a person's registration can take place instantlyvia a quick call to our Boxercise Head Office.
