The Work Shops will cover: BoxerciseAerobics and the Boxercise Circuit - new ideas and developmentKick Work Shop - Integrating some basic kicks into your classgiving a new dimension to your aerobics section and circuit PersonalTrainer Work Shop - Advanced instruction concentrating upon coachingon a new level, vital when dealing with your clients on a oneto one basis.
The most important aspect of padwork has to be safety. Whenusing the pads, first check the equipment you are using. A goodpad should be densley packed and relatively heavy. Remember youwant the pad to absorb the majority of the shock, not your handsand arms. Even more important is the target dot on each pad. Ensurethat the dot is in the middle of the pad so that when you holdthe pad the dot is in the middle of the palm of your hand. Ifthe dot if off-centre risk of injury to your hands and wristsis far greater.
When holding the pads always ensure that you adopt an effectiveBoxercise stance which allows you to absorb shock and maintainbalance at all times. Make sure you hold the pads at the correctheight for the person punching (based on their head height andnot yours). Remember, whoever holds the pads is considered thecoach. Their feedback and instruction is vital to the puncher- the pad holder should not simply be a silent target.
Workout intensity is determined entirely by the pad holder.A good coach should be able to work with the novice through tothe advanced boxer and enable each to work to 100% of their ownability. Padwork is by far the most memorable circuit stationin any class. The one to one attention given to each person whoattends your class enables you to work your clients hard whilsthaving fun and maintaining a great atmosphere.
Those who attend the Boxercise course soon realise the importanceof padwork as they spend over two and a half hours developingthis skill learning how to coach and not just instruct to theirclass.
Padwork allows you to train everyone from the novice to theelite athlete offering them a great workout. The best part aboutpads is the low cost and convenience. A set of pads and glovescan easily fit in a ruck-sack and travel with you to any destination.
